Valentin is a multidisciplinary artist. He followed his education at the art academy in Bulgaria. Valentin has lived and worked in Bulgaria, the Dominican Republic, Italy (Milan) and is now holding residence in Amsterdam. In his career so far, he has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in Amsterdam, Breda, Milan, Sofia and Chicago amongst others.
In the past his art was more figurative, nowadays Valentin works merely as an abstract artist, although figurative elements are still part of some of his works. Valentin searches for new and different ways to apply ancient art techniques. His work is a mixture of traditional and contemporary, and eastern and western cultures.
Le Grand Bleu is an art project related to the world culture. Valentin applies ancient craft techniques taking them to a fine art level. All forms of inspiration and the core values Valentin stands for, have led to this multimedia project. The ancient crafts he uses come from an era when our planet was still clean. Going back to the origins of denim as well as to mediaeval Japanese indigo dyed workingmen’s cloth, he puts his work in a new context of sustainability and multidisciplinary art.
